A straight shot at a centered keeper is the worst finish on the pitch. The keeper is a player who stepped into the rectangle in front of the net. Only one player holds that role, and from there they can catch, punch, and throw. Your job is to move that position before you shoot.
Build a second lane
Carrying straight at goal gives the defense one problem. A short pass, a lateral touch, or one useful gadget forces a choice. Finish into the space that choice leaves.
- If the central lane is already open, use a simple left click. Do not add a flick.
- If the keeper shades the near side, pass across or finish toward the open side.
- If a defender commits early, touch the ball once and release. Extra touches let them recover.
- If the box is crowded, reset wide or prepare for the loose ball. Do not run through three players with no outlet.
Width matters. A teammate on the far side pulls coverage off the carrier. Standing directly behind the carrier lets one defender cover both of you.
Power, lob, and flick
Hold left click for a charged kick when you have tested it in practice. It travels farther and is harder to place. Treat it as an exit when you are surrounded and have no pass, not as the default shot.
F is the lob on the illustrated chart. Q is the flick. Community notes disagree about exact flick timing, so test each action alone in the practice area against the AI keeper before you combine them. Lift the ball only when a grounded challenge or a low keeper is the specific problem. An open net does not need an aerial.
If Assisted Passes is on, run the same short pass with it on and off. Keep it only if it picks the teammate you meant.
Gadgets on a chance
Use a movement tool to reach a far-side pass or a rebound when you can see the landing. Use a gun or rocket punch on the one player blocking the finish, and decide who collects the ball after the hit. Oil or a barricade should shape their route, not your own passing lane.
Fire one tool when one is enough. Spending both before the last touch leaves nothing for the block. If aiming a weapon takes the ball and the open space off your screen, pass first.
After the shot
Every shot creates three jobs: follow the rebound, cover the return pass, or recover toward your own goal. The closest attacker takes the loose ball. A second player stays outside the crowd. The deepest player protects the counter.
If the block comes back to you, pick a new lane. If the other team collects cleanly, stop the attack. Chasing from behind empties the middle.
A short practice set
In the lobby practice area:
- Take five simple shots from one open angle and learn how left click feels.
- Step sideways and take five more, and watch how the goal line changes.
- Pass, keep running, and finish the return without an extra touch.
- Add one defender and release before the challenge arrives.
- Add one gadget only when it opens the shot or the rebound.
The first decision that closed the lane is the one to fix. More power does not repair a late pass.
